Audi's luxurious 2012 A6 sport sedan has been completely redesigned inside and out. From the exterior’s classic, yet contemporary appearance and extended wheelbase, and the spacious driver-oriented interior that features a variety of innovative infotainment and safety technologies, to the powertrain options that offer a choice between the base 211-horsepower/2.0-liter mated to multitronic transmission or a 310-horsepower/3.0-liter versions of Audi's turbocharged sequentially fuel injected engine mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

The new Audi A6 is available in three trim levels: base model is the Premium level, which starts at $41,700 with a 2.0-liter engine or $49,900 with a 3.0-liter engine and offers 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires and wheels and tire pressure monitoring system, leather seating, eight-way power front seats with four-way lumbar adjustment and seat memory for the driver, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, three-zone climate control, Audi music interface with iPod and iPhone integration, Sirius XM radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. Homelink remote transmitter and keyless start add to the driver's convenience.

The Premium Plus trim adds 18-inch five-spoke alloy, xenon-plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, parking system with front and rear sensors, Audi connect, and Audi MMI Navigation Plus with voice control system and a new MMI Touch handwriting recognition system. Suggested retail for this trim level is $45,920 with a 2.0-liter engine, or $54,120 with a 3.0-liter engine.

The Prestige Package is available only with the 3.0-liter engine and starts at $56,780, and includes 18-inch V-spoke alloy wheels, adaptive xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, ambient lighting, ventilated eight-way power front seats with four-way lumbar adjustment and seat memory for the driver, four-zone climate control, 14-speaker 630-watt Bose surround sound system, and Audi Advanced key. Audi's 2.0-liter engine boasts 258 lb-ft of torque at 3250 rpm, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, and fuel economy of 25 city/ 33 highway, and 28 combined.  Audi's 3.0-liter engine boasts 325 lb-ft of torque from 2900 to 4500 rpm, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, and fuel economy of 19 city/ 28 highway, and 22 combined.

Options include a cold weather package that adds a heated steering wheels as well as heated front and rear seats (available on all models), an Innovation Package that adds adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Audi Pre-Sense Plus, Audi Side Assist, Head up display, night vision assistant, and heated power folding exterior mirrors (available on Prestige trim levels only). A top-of-the-line 15-speaker, 1,300-watt Bang & Olufsen advanced sound system is also available on all models.

Innovative technologies in the new 2012 Audi A6 designed to assist drivers through Audi's bespoke MultiMedia Interface (MMI) include Google Earth and Google Local Search, Wi-Fi hot spot connectivity for up to eight devices, and the ability to find the lowest gas prices or view weather forecasts. In addition, the Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth connectivity also allow for seamless Internet radio and audio file streaming.

Stability and control are enhanced by using advanced technologies and materials, including Audi quattro, ESC, and extensive use of lightweight aluminum in the suspension for superior handling. Night vision assistant, head-up display, and lane assist technologies are also available for additional safety.

Like all Audi vehicles, safety is a top priority in the 2012 A6, which features Audi pre sense plus, a system that monitors activity in front of and behind the car and activates such protective measures as activating hazard lights, closing the sunroof and windows, and tensioning seatbelts if a collision is imminent. The vehicle can actually actively engage the brakes to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front. Should a head-on collision occur, energy-absorbing structural cross members in the front of the vehicle direct energy to two longitudinal members that deform in a controlled manner.
